Paper is something that we use daily, but many people do not realize the history and development of the paper industry. In this talk, Kiki will reveal some lesser-known facts about the world of paper and its importance to our daily lives.
Ruth Lingen has been working in the field of papermaking and printmaking for over 40 years, both as a papermaker and as the Director of Pace Paper in Brooklyn, NY. She has collaborated with dozens of artists, including Jim Dine, Mary Heilmann, and Kiki Smith. Her work explores the possibilities of paper in both its raw and finished forms, and has been shown in more than 20 museums.

Papermaking with Kiki is the fifth feature film by Studio Ghibli and was written, directed, and animated by Hayao Miyazaki. The film is based on the book by Eiko Kadono. Kiki is a witch who moves to Koriko, Japan and works at Guchokipanya bakery.
